A

AK — The Assault Rifle. The meta rifle. 100 head / 50 chest damage. Workbench 3, 1 rifle body + 50 HQM + 200 wood + 4 springs.

Airfield — Mid-to-high tier monument. Has a +20% recycler. Open-field PvP magnet.

Anti-Rad — Anti-Radiation Pills. Loot drop. Reduces accumulated radiation. Carry 5-10 if you live near a rad monument.

Arctic Research Base — Snow biome monument with +20% recycler, high-tier scientists, all 3 keycard puzzles.

Auth — Authorize on a Tool Cupboard. Required to build/repair on a foundation.

AWP — See "Bolt" or "L96."

B

Backpack — Wearable storage. Tactical (16 slots) or LR300-tier (24 slots). Major upgrade from naked inventory.

Bag — Sleeping bag. Respawn point. 5-minute cooldown after use.

Bag rush — After dying, respawn at a forward bag near the death site, recover loot before killer can scoop it.

Bandit Camp — Safe-zone monument with shop, gambling, Air Wolf (helicopter shop). The scope arbitrage spot.

Base — Your shelter. Sized: 1x1 (starter), 2x2 (solo/duo), 3x3 (trio), 4x4+ (clan).

BBQ — Barbeque. Cooking station. Higher slot count than campfire.

Beancan — Beancan grenade. Cheap explosive, RNG fuse. 60 sulfur.

Blueprint (BP) — Permanent unlock for crafting an item. Earned via research or auto-unlock via tech tree.

Bolt — Bolt-Action Rifle. 160 head / 80 chest. One-shot headshot on most armor. WB3.

Bradley — Bradley APC. Tank at Launch Site. 4-6 rockets through rear armor to kill. Drops 2-4 high-tier crates.

BP wipe — Server resets all blueprints. Rare event, usually quarterly. Different from a normal wipe (which only resets bases).

Bunker — Hidden sealed room inside your base, usually under the TC, holding your most valuable loot ("soul stash").

C

C4 — Timed Explosive Charge. Best raid tool. 550 soft / 275 hard wall damage. 2,200 sulfur to craft. WB3.

Cargo — Cargo Ship. Random event. Sails for 50 minutes. ~1,293 scrap avg per successful run.

CCTV — Closed-circuit cameras. View base/monuments via in-game computer station.

Chinook — Chinook 47 helicopter. Drops locked crates randomly. Usually at Arctic Research.

Clan — 5+ player team. Builds compounds, controls regions.

Cloth — Material. From hemp, animals. Used for sleeping bags, bandages, clothing.

Cobalt — The Cobalt Corporation. Scientists' employer (in lore). Drop loot at monuments.

Comp — Components — gears, springs, rifle bodies, etc. Recycle into scrap.

Cooked / Raw — Meat state. Raw meat poisons you. Always cook.

Cooking pot — Late-game cooking station. More slots than BBQ.

Counter-raid — Raid the raiders during their raid. Risky but high reward.

Crossbreed — Plant genetic mixing stage. Adjacent plants exchange genes.

Custom — Custom SMG. Cheap automatic. WB1.

D

Decay — Walls lose HP over time without TC upkeep. Stone outdoors: 5 HP/hr empty.

Deep wipe — Same as BP wipe.

Door camp — Wait outside a player's door for them to come out.

Drop Box — One-way deposit container. Players outside the wall drop items in, only owner can take out.

Duo — 2-player team. Doubles output via parallel workflows.

E

Eoka — Eoka Pistol. Wipe-day MVP weapon. Cheap, RNG misfire, 1-shot kill close range.

Embrasure — Wall variant with shooting slit. Lets you shoot out, hard to be shot through.

Explo Ammo — Explosive 5.56 ammo. Soft-soak raid tool. 28 sulfur per round.

F

F1 — Console key. Lets you run commands like kill, respawn, FPS tweaks.

Facepunch — Facepunch Studios. The developer. Posts patches at rust.facepunch.com/news.

Farming — Resource gathering OR plant agriculture. Context matters.

Fishing Village — Safe-zone, fishing rod + boat shop, recycler.

Frags — Metal fragments. Crafting material from smelted metal ore.

Furnace — Smelter. Small (wood-fueled) or Electric (60 rW, faster, no fuel needed).

G

Garage door — Wide door, 600 HP, opens slow. 3 C4 to break. Bunker classic.

Gunpowder — Crafting intermediate. Sulfur + charcoal. Feeds ammo/explosive recipes.

H

Hatchet — Wood-cutting tool. Also melee weapon (causes bleed).

Hazmat — Hazmat Suit. 50% radiation reduction. Required for Power Plant, Launch Site, Train Tunnels.

HE — High Explosive. Type of mortar round or ammo.

Heavy plate — Heaviest armor set. 85% kinetic damage reduction. Slow movement.

Heli — Patrol Helicopter (random event boss) OR minicopter/scrap helicopter (vehicles).

Hemp — Plant. Source of cloth. Genes target YYYYYY for max yield.

Honeycomb — Double-walling pattern around a base. Forces raiders to break through 2+ walls. Critical defense.

HQM — High Quality Metal. Premium crafting material. From HQM ore at certain monuments. Used for guns, armored walls.

I

Industrial — The pipe-based automation system. Conveyors, crafters, splitters, combiners.

Ingot — Smelted metal. Sometimes used for "metal frags" in older terminology.

J

Jug — Water Jug. Holds 5,000 mL water. Carry to drink later.

Junkyard — Mid-tier monument. Crane drops barrels and scientists.

K

KOS — Kill On Sight. Default Rust playstyle.

Keycard — Green, Blue, or Red. Unlocks puzzle areas. Higher tier = better loot.

L

LG / Low Grade — Low Grade Fuel. Powers generators, vehicles, sprinklers.

Lighthouse — Easy starter monument. 2-3 basic crates, ~50-80 scrap.

LR / LR-300 — Lower-recoil rifle. Loot-only, not craftable. 60 head / 30 chest.

LSO — Launch Site. Highest-tier monument. RED card. Bradley patrols.

M

M249 — Machine gun. Loot-only from heavy scientists. Belt-fed 100 rounds.

Mailbox — Decorative item that holds notes. Roleplay flavor.

Medkit — Large Medkit. Heals 100 HP over 8 sec. WB3, 5 cloth + 1 medkit loot.

Mini — Minicopter. 2-seat helicopter. 750 scrap at Bandit. Most popular vehicle.

Mixing table — Tea-crafting station. WB2.

Monument — Map landmark with loot, scientists, sometimes puzzles. ~20 types per map.

Mortar — April 2026 weapon. Long-range structure damage. No aim aid.

MP5 — High RPM SMG. WB3, drops at Military Tunnels.

N

Naked — Player without armor/clothes. Spawn state. Easy target.

Nailgun — Cheap weapon that uses nails. Beginner option.

O

Online raid — Raid while defender is in-game. Higher risk, can fight back.

Outpost — Safe-zone monument. Shop with mid-tier weapons. WB1 available.

Offline raid — Raid while defender is logged off. Easier. Most common.

P

Pickaxe — Mining tool. Stone, sulfur, metal ore farming.

Pipe — Industrial pipe. Connects industrial components.

Planter — Plant container. Small (4 slots) or Large (9 slots).

Pumpkin — Highest-calorie food crop. 70+ cal per pumpkin.

Pure Tea — Tier 3 (highest) tea variant. Most potent buff, longest duration.

Q

Quarry — Static or pump-jack mining structure. Old-content, less useful since dynamic mining.

R

Rad / Radiation — Damage from rad zones. Hazmat reduces 50%.

RAID — Use explosives to enter someone's base. C4, rockets, satchels.

Recycler — Converts loot to scrap + parts. At most monuments. +20% at Airfield, Arctic, Abandoned Supermarket.

RHIB — Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boat. 300 scrap at Fishing Village. Cargo Ship boarding tool.

Rifle Body — Component. Drops from rifle weapons. Recycles for 25 scrap.

Rocket — Rocket Launcher ammo. 1,400 sulfur to craft. 236 hard / 472 soft wall damage.

Rust+ — Companion mobile app. Pair via in-game inventory. Smart alarms ping your phone.

S

SAM Site — Anti-air turret. 25 rW. Shoots minicopters/scrap heli/patrol heli.

Satchel — Satchel Charge. Cheap raid explosive, RNG fuse. 480 sulfur.

Scrap — Universal currency. Researches blueprints, buys at safe zones.

Scrap Heli — Scrap Transport Helicopter. 4 seats + storage. 1,250 scrap.

Scrap Tea — +350% scrap from containers for 1 hour. (Note: 2026 update from older +50%/10min). The most-used tea.

Scientist — NPC. Drops scrap, components, weapons. Lower-tier at Junkyard, high-tier at Arctic/Military Tunnels.

Shotgun trap — Defensive trap. Fires shotgun shells at intruders.

Sleeping bag — Respawn point. 30 cloth. 5 min cooldown.

Sleeper — Logged-off player asleep in their base. Vulnerable target.

Smelt — Convert raw ore to ingot/frags in furnace.

SMG — Submachine Gun. Custom (WB1), Thompson (WB1), Tommy Gun (WB2), MP5 (WB3).

Soft side — Wood-frame visible side of a wall. Takes 2x damage. Always face HARD side outward.

Solo — 1-player team. Builds a 2x2 typically.

Solo Sub — Solo Submarine. 200 scrap at Fishing Village.

Soul stash — Hidden bunker box with your most-valuable items.

Spawn — Initial position on a fresh server. "Spawn beach" is the random shore start point.

Sprinkler — Electric water dispenser. Waters planters. 5 rW, 2 mL/sec.

Spray — Hold-trigger automatic fire. AK spray pattern is the most-practiced skill.

Sulfur — Mining resource. Crafts gunpowder, explosives.

Survival mode — The main game mode. PvP, base building, scrap economy.

T

TC / Tool Cupboard — Critical base anchor. 40m no-build radius. Decay protection. Always hidden, always stocked.

Tea — Brewed at Mixing Table from berries. 10+ types. Stack multiple for compound buffs.

Tech Trash — Component. 5 scrap + 1 HQM per recycle. Best scrap-per-slot in the game.

Train Tunnels — Underground rail network. Train Yard monument. Tunnel Dweller event.

Trap — Defensive device. Shotgun trap, beartrap, etc. Triggers on motion/pressure.

Trio — 3-player team. Builds 3x3 or 4x2.

Turret — Auto Turret. 10 rW (11+ for logic outputs). Aim cone defense.

Twig — Lowest building tier. Placement preview material. Falls to a single hatchet hit.

U

Underwater Lab — Underwater monument. Diving suit recommended. 400-600 scrap per visit.

Upkeep — Materials in TC needed to prevent decay.

V

Vanilla — Default server settings (1x loot, no mods).

VOIP — Voice over IP. In-game proximity voice chat.

W

Water Treatment — Plant monument. Mid-tier, GREEN+BLUE card. 200-400 scrap.

WB / Workbench — Crafting station. Tiers 1, 2, 3. Higher tier = more recipes.

Wipe — Server reset of bases/loot. Weekly (most common), biweekly, or monthly. First Thursday of each month is the GLOBAL forced wipe.

Wood box — Storage container. 12 slots (small) or 30 slots (large).

X-Z

XOR Switch — Electrical logic gate. Exactly-one-input logic.

Zerg — Mass player coordination. Usually negative — implies overwhelming numbers vs skill.
